C3 Tower – Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai, UAE
The combination of ACS and VARIO
Quick stripping and fast erection
Located right in the heart of Jumeirah Lake Towers, the C3 Tower is also known as “The Palladium” (a rare and precious metal). The 34-storey office, retail and residential complex, designed by reputed architects DAR Consultants, features one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses. The property is proposed to be ready for occupation in early 2007.
The Palladium is an ultra modern High-rise apartment complex spanning over half a million square feet of built-up area. The Palladium is being constructed to the most stringent international standards.
To meet the contractors’ requirement for speed and quality PERI formwork has supplied its Automatic Climbing System (ACS). The ACS system will ensure that the core wall formwork climbs automatically ahead of the slabs, independent of the crane. The climbing apparatus is self contained and is exceptional simple to operate. The ACS allows the contractor flexibility to pour concrete whenever he chooses to while still being capable of achieving a 4-5 day cycle. The result of using the ACS is perfect alignment verticality of the core, high concrete finish quality and speed.
The contractor has also invested in PERI formwork for the columns, retaining walls and crane assisted jump formwork for the external shear walls.

Project Manager
“The combination of ACS and VARIO allows us quick stripping and fast climbing times. Because of the easy use our team has become familiar with the handling of the PERI Systems in a very short time. Due to the complexity of the configuration of the core we opted for a combination of ACS and VARIO Wall Formwork this meets our objective and things are running smoothly.“

ACS system
ACS was brought in to speed up the earlier delays on site and to catch up the lost time. ACS helps in reducing the manpower requirement ACS is designed to adapt to the curved geometry of the primary cores and thus saves time in opening and closing shutters. ACS has also proved its merit when the geometry of the primary core walls changes as it does above the 38 floor level.
Designed concrete pressure at 50 kN/m². In both primary and secondary core walls, PERI offered designed pressure of 50 kN/m², giving an excellent pouring rate to gain time in each pour. |

PD 8 system
With heavy loads of large span precast slab panels plus loads of cast in situ beams to support, the natural choice was PD 8 system. The PD 8 frames are capable of carrying the total load to be supported on lower precast slab panel ends without need of intermediate propping support. The PD 8 frames with varying sizes of horizontal braces, gave our client the best geometry to place the leg loads at right points over the precast slab panels below. This meant the footing of PD 8 frames located over the lower precast slab level, were within the limits allowed on the precast panels, thus saving on additional cost of spreader beams to distribute the load on lower precast slab. |
